Marcus Rashford comments on Barcelona future after La Liga win

Manchester United misfit Marcus Rashford has reiterated his desire to continue his stint with Barcelona beyond the 2025/26 season.

Speaking after Barcelona’s La Liga title win this past weekend via Sky Sports, Marcus Rashford commented on his future at the Catalan club. The Manchester United misfit once again reiterated his desire to remain at the Catalan club, suggesting that if he were a magician, he would ensure his extended stay at Spotify Camp Nou.

Rashford said, “I don’t know, I’m not a magician but if I was, I would stay [at Barcelona]. We will see. Football is unpredictable but for now, I will just enjoy it, live in the moment and reassess at the end of the season and see what is possible.”

Marcus Rashford and his situation

Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a solid 2025/26 campaign with Barcelona, having arrived on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United last summer. The Blaugrana landed the 28-year-old after his career-reviving stint with Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 season, which ultimately facilitated his dream move to the Catalan club.

The English international has amassed 14 goals and 14 assists in 47 outings in all competitions, averaging a goal contribution every 87 minutes. However, despite his impressive showings, which now include the sensational free-kick in El Clasico to clinch the 2025/26 La Liga title, a permanent transfer remains uncertain.

What next for Rashford?

Barcelona’s financial constraints have left them reluctant to activate the purchase option in the loan deal for Marcus Rashford. That has reportedly left a summer move “at risk” amid the Catalan club’s desire to seek another loan move.

Rashford’s high wages have reportedly become a significant financial obstacle to securing a permanent deal. While Hansi Flick has admittedly been satisfied with the 28-year-old Englishman’s output this term, the Catalan giants would prefer not to pay the purchase option clause to retain his services for the long haul.

While that adds complications to the brewing transfer saga, Rashford’s desire to remain in Catalonia adds a layer of intrigue to the story. Nevertheless, other prospective suitors will have a keen eye on the situation, with recent reports linking the 28-year-old English international with Arsenal.
