Jamie O’Hara predicts Anthony Gordon to leave Newcastle United
Anthony Gordon has been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.
Anthony Gordon has had an impressive season and has been linked to multiple top clubs. It will be interesting to see if the player is sold during the summer transfer window.
Newcastle have struggled in the attack this season, and summer signings Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa have combined to score just eight goals in the league this season.
They have been overly dependent on Gordon in the final third. The England International has 22 goal contributions. Selling him could prove to be a mistake for Newcastle.
However, the player has been benched in the last two matches, which has further fueled speculation about his future. When asked about his decision to drop the player, Eddie Howe said Gordon has only just returned from injury and that the team is playing well. Therefore, he decided not to make any changes.
Howe : “Obviously, he’s returned from an injury.
“I’m looking at the team, and I’ve been pleased with how the team’s performed the last three games, so I haven’t had to make changes.”
Gordon tipped to move on
Meanwhile, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes the player could be on his way out of the club, and the manager’s decision to bench him in the last two matches suggests he wants to get rid of him.
O’Hara said on , “It tells me he’s leaving, if Howe isn’t playing him.
“I like Gordon, he’s a player they need, but for whatever reason, it hasn’t gone to plan.
“If Howe isn’t playing him at this stage of the season, it suggests he’s going to get rid of him.”
There is unlikely to be a shortage of clubs interested in signing Gordon in the summer. He has been linked with Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea over the last few months.
He will look to join a big club where he can fight for major trophies. There is no doubt he has the quality to compete at a higher level, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
