Leeds United fall behind Celtic in Kasper Hogh race

Celtic could pip Leeds United in the race for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh ahead of next summer, with Champions League football key.

According to Football Insider, Kasper Hogh could be headed out of Bodo/Glimt in the summer, with a few key clubs chasing the striker. Leeds United were linked, but the English side are likely to lose the race to Celtic, who could lure the Dane with Champions League football.

Hogh has captured the attention of several European clubs following his exploits for Bodo/Glimt this season and last. The striker has put in consistent goal-scoring displays in the Norwegian league, but he has truly come alive with his performances in this season’s Champions League.

Six goals and three assists — including a strike in the qualifying rounds — have helped Bodo/Glimt reach the last 16 of the Champions League. They have had memorable victories over Manchester City, Inter Milan and Sporting CP along the way, with Hogh getting on the scoresheet in each of those games.

Leeds United had kept tabs on Hogh recently and were interested in making a move in the summer. Daniel Farke has been keen on signing a new striker, with recent links to Patrick Agyemang of Derby County rife in the media.

However, Leeds United could miss out on Hogh in the summer, as Celtic are the club primed to sign the Danish striker. The 25-year-old, who has been one of the standout performers in Bodo/Glimt’s Champions League run, could have been a great option for the Elland Road outfit — but a key factor is standing in their way.

Why Are Celtic Favourites for Kasper Hogh?

The lure of Champions League football is proving pivotal in the Hogh chase, as the striker is reportedly eager to play in top-tier European competition, either with Bodo/Glimt or with a new side. At the moment, Leeds United are not in a position to qualify for the Champions League, but the Scottish giants are.

Celtic are planning a major overhaul in the summer, which could also see a new manager arrive. Hogh could view this as a significant opportunity to make his mark in Scotland, and may well see the move as an important stepping stone in his career — relocating to Glasgow would make total sense.
