Chelsea line up €70 million move for Michael Kayode, face Arsenal, Manchester City threat

Chelsea are ready to fork out €70 million to sign Brentford full-back Michael Kayode; they will face stiff competition from Arsenal and Manchester City.

Chelsea already have a squad full of talent, but they are constantly on the lookout for more quality. The Blues project revolves around signing the best young players, and they have identified a top talent within the Premier League.

According to a report from Fichajes, the Blues want to sign Brentford’s Michael Kayode as they look to bolster their backline. The London club are planning to submit an offer worth around €70 million to convince the Bees to part ways with one of their most exciting talents.

However, securing his services won’t be that easy as Brentford will have the upper hand in negotiations with his contract running until 2030. More importantly, they will have to battle rivals Arsenal and Manchester City in their pursuit of the 21-year-old Italian sensation.

On the back of his impressive rise at Fiorentina, Brentford secured the services of Kayode at the start of 2025. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent last summer for just €17.5 million. His value has skyrocketed since his move to England, thanks to his stellar performances.

Kayode has established himself as one of the best young full-backs in the world. In the ongoing campaign, he has been involved in 36 games across competitions. While he only has two goal contributions, he has been a rock at the back, and his overall gameplay has attracted a lot of attention.

The big guns are ready to battle for Kayode

On the back of those performances, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City are all closely monitoring the 21-year-old. The Gunners have a long-standing interest in him. They tried to secure his services while he was still making a name for himself in Italy.

They retain interest in him and could knock on the doors this summer as they look for a Ben White replacement. Meanwhile, City are on the lookout for a new right-back, as they are yet to successfully replace Kyle Walker. They consider Kayode the perfect long-term replacement for the English international.

While Arsenal and City do have concrete interest, Chelsea seem to be the most serious suitors at this stage. The Blues are willing to do everything in their power to add the young right-back to their squad.

His arrival could allow them to use Reece James in a midfield role on a consistent basis. The London club are planning to submit a massive €70 million offer that will certainly tempt Brentford.

While there is no shortage of interest in him, Chelsea remain optimistic about getting a deal over the line, thanks to their financial muscle and a compelling long-term project centred around young talent.
