Real Madrid going all out to sign Enzo Fernandez
Real Madrid are willing to break the bank and fork out €120 million to sign Chelsea midfield mainstay Enzo Fernandez.
Real Madrid seem to have some big plans for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Spanish giants are looking to reinforce their midfield, and according to a report from Fichajes, they are going all out to bring Chelsea star midfielder Enzo Fernandez to Santiago Bernabeu.
After coming up the ranks at River Plate and making a name for himself while playing for their first team, Fernandez made the move to Benfica in the summer of 2022. Thanks to his impressive performances for the Portuguese club and his heroics at the World Cup for Argentina, Chelsea broke the bank to sign him at the start of 2023.
The 25-year-old South American midfielder has only gone from strength to strength since. He has established himself as one of the mainstays at the London club, and his consistent performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
Real Madrid want Fernandez at all costs
While his contract runs until 2032, and he is happy at Stamford Bridge, Real Madrid are keen on adding him to their ranks ahead of next season. The Spanish giants want more quality in the centre of the park, as they look to better control the tempo of games.
With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos no longer at the club, they have struggled to dictate the tempo of games, and they believe Fernandez could play the role of that deep-lying player. As a result, Real Madrid are ready to go all out to sign the 25-year-old.
While the team in white were initially looking to sign Vitinha from PSG, the Portuguese international has no intentions of leaving the French club. As a result, Madrid have shifted their focus to Fernandez and are prepairing a €120 million offer to convince Chelsea to sell their midfield mainstay.
He is a dream target for Florentino Perez, who has been tracking him since his River Plate days. Now, the Real Madrid president is ready to do everything in his power to bring him to the Spanish capital. The Spanish club are looking to initiate formal talks in the coming weeks as they look to lay the groundwork for a potential transfer.
But with Chelsea not keen on negotiating his departure, it remains to be seen if they can make any progress in their pursuit of the South American midfielder.
