Liverpool plotting player-plus-cash deal to sign Michael Olise
Arne Slot’s Liverpool are keen on bringing Bayern Munich star forward Michael Olise back to the Premier League this summer.
While Mohamed Salah will still have a year left on his deal in the summer, his future is very complicated. There are high chances of him leaving Anfield after the end of the season. Irrespective of whether he leaves this summer or not, the Reds do need to bring in someone who can help them cope with his absence.
The Merseyside club have been on the lookout for the perfect alternative, and according to a report from Fichajes, Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise is the favourite to replace the Egyptian international. The Reds are looking to put forward a player-plus-cash deal to convince the German giants to part ways with him.
The French forward made quite a name for himself during his time at Crystal Palace. Clubs from across Europe were after his signature, but in the end, Bayern managed to win the race. The 24-year-old right-winger hasn’t looked back since joining the German giants in the summer of 2024.
He had an impressive debut campaign and has carried that form into the new season. The French international has been involved in a total of 36 matches, and he has contributed towards 38 goals (13 goals, 25 assists). Olise is one of the mainstays in Vincent Kompany’s team, and they have no intentions of negotiating his departure, but Liverpool are still willing to try their luck.
Liverpool to try everything in their power to sign Olise
With Salah’s future uncertain, they consider the 24-year-old to be an ideal long-term replacement. Not only does he have the skillset, but Olise also has the composure, and he can step up in the big games. However, signing him won’t be easy as Bayern value him at around €200 million, a figure that reflects his age and his massive potential.
The Reds are looking to lower the asking price by offering a player as part of the deal. The Reds are aware that people at Bayern really admire Cody Gakpo, as the versatile Dutch forward could easily slot into their system. Liverpool are looking to use him to bring down the total cost of the operation.
It will be interesting to see if the German outfit consider Gakpo a good fit and a strategic asset. Their internal evaluation will decide whether they go ahead with it or not.
