Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tomas Cvancara determined to engineer permanent transfer to Celtic

Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tomas Cvanacara has expressed the desire to remain with his Scottish loan club Celtic Glasgow. Speaking on a Celtic Podcast, the Bundesliga flop spoke on his short-term success in the Scottish Premiership. Cvancara has already scored one goal and registered two assists in two appearances for the defending Scottish champions.

Do Celtic retain a purchase option for Tomas Cvancara?

Multiple media sources reporting at the time that Cvancara’s loan deal was finalized report that Celtic have an €8m purchase option. Gladbach have little interest in retaining the Czech international, particularly after he lashed out at his Bundesliga outfit for failing to provide him with adequate support last spring. Unlike his fellow Bundesliga Celtic loanee Junior Adamu, Cvancara’s likelihood of returning to Germany is very low.

Cvancara’s plea to remain in Glasgow

Whether or not Celtic wish to pay €8m for a €2.5m-valued striker remains to be seen. The eight-times-capped international fully acknowledged that he had much to prove when speaking on the Scottish podcast. Cvancara also thanked his current club for backing him in ways his Bundesliga club did not.

Cvancara’s statement on the pod

If I’m good enough, my goal is to convince the club and the board that they have to sign me,” Cvancara said. “I’m happy that I’m now at a new club that trusts me and where I can show what I’m capable of.”
