Napoli star Scott McTominay on his future: “My agent has spoken to nobody else”
Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay clarified the situation surrounding his future, especially reports linking him with other clubs over a potential move in the summer transfer window.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Corriere dello Sport, the former Manchester United player poured cold water over rumours that suggested a move away for McTominay from Napoli. The Scottish midfielder charted his transfer from the Premier League to the Serie A, and then moved on to comment that his agent has talked with no other club regarding his future. He said: “My agent hasn’t spoken to anyone about my future. He only talks to the club and me. He hasn’t said anything to the newspapers. I’m extremely happy here, and as for me, I’m a Napoli player; that’s all I think about. The future is very important, and I could see myself at Napoli for a long time.”
McTominay further reinforced his statement by reporting that he and his family are pleased with the city of Naples and the club, which gave him a space to improve after leaving a tough situation at Manchester United. The 29-year-old remarked: “My family is happy, I’m happy. It’s a fantastic moment, I’ve experienced something different from the last year and a half. As long as everyone in my life is happy, I am too.”
The Napoli proceeded to explain his own role as a footballer on the pitch as he said: “I’ve always been a midfielder, a number 8 who can do a bit of everything: get in the mix, but also help the team in build-up play, in defence, someone who gives his teammates a hand, in short.”
