Tottenham rival Barcelona in Marcos Senesi chase

Tottenham are all set to battle Barcelona in the race for Bournemouth defensive mainstay Marcos Senesi’s signature.

Marcos Senesi seems set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season. With his contract running out, the Argentine centre-back will be free to choose his next club, and Tottenham have emerged as front-runners for his signature. However, they are not the only club that are after him.

According to a report from Fichajes, the North London club could face stiff competition from Spanish giants Barcelona as well as a few other top clubs. The 28-year-old centre-back represents a great market opportunity, and Spurs do not want to miss out on him.

Senesi made a name for himself while playing for Dutch giants Feyenoord before making the move to the Cherries in the summer of 2022. He has only gone from strength to strength since moving to England.

The left-footed centre-back has been a constant feature in the Bournemouth starting XI, and his performances have earned a lot of plaudits. His versatility and ability to play out from the back have stood out.

He has been a standout performer for the Cherries in the ongoing campaign. The 28-year-old has been involved in 27 matches across competitions and has even bagged four assists. While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet, his future lies away from Vitality Stadium.

Senesi is all set for a new challenge

Senesi’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and he doesn’t seem to have any intention of penning a new deal. With him set to be available for free, multiple top clubs are looking to make the most out of it.

Barcelona are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. The Catalan giants haven’t been at their best defensively this season. They haven’t coped well with Inigo Martinez’s departure, and a reliable figure like Senesi can certainly help.

However, they won’t find it easy to beat Tottenham to his signature. With Cristian Romero pushing for a move away amidst interest from Spanish giants, the North London club are looking for an ideal replacement.

They want to bring in a proven Premier League star, and they see Senesi as a great market opportunity. The 28-year-old is valued at around €22 million, and the opportunity to sign him for free seems too good to miss out on.
