Montpellier’s Becir Omeragic set for Basel switch
Montpellier HSC’s bid to return to Ligue 1 at the first time of asking is set to be dealt a considerable blow. L’Équipe understands that the club’s captain, Becir Omeragic (24) is set to join Swiss side FC Basel.
With some transfer windows still open, Omeragic continues to attract interest. The Swiss international surprisingly remained with La Paillade, despite the club’s relegation to Ligue 2 last season. And once again, despite being the subject of interest in January, he remained at the Mosson.
He had been linked with a move to the MLS and specifically to Kansas City, but he now looks all set for a move back to his native Switzerland. An agreement between MHSC and Basel has now been reached. The deal is worth €2.5m, with Montpellier keeping a 20% sell-on percentage.
The deal is all set to be concluded. Basel currently sit fourth in the Swiss league.
