Everton putting in work to agree cut-price Jack Grealish deal

Everton are reportedly working very hard to agree a cut-price deal with Manchester City to permanently sign Jack Grealish.

After falling out of favour at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, Jack Grealish joined Everton on loan last summer. The English international was certainly loving life at the Merseyside club, and even the Toffees were quite pleased with his performances before he got injured.

Despite being ruled out for the rest of the season, the Toffees are still keen on securing his services on a permanent basis. According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Everton are putting in a lot of work to agree a cut-price deal for the Englishman.

Jack Grealish made a name for himself while playing for Aston Villa. On the back of his sensational rise, Manchester City forked out a massive fee to sign him back in 2021. He was an integral part of their plans in the initial years and played a massive part in all the successes they had.

However, Grealish slowly went down the pecking order and heading into this season, he was no longer a part of their plans. As a result, he ended up joining Everton, who agreed on a £50 million option to buy with his parent club, Manchester City.

Before getting ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot stress fracture, the 30-year-old was involved in a total of 22 matches, and he ended up contributing towards eight goals. He became an integral part of David Moyes’ plans in no time.

Grealish could join Everton permanently

Moyes seems quite impressed with Jack Grealish and would love to have him on his squad next season as well. However, the Toffees have no intentions of triggering the £50 million buy option. They are working hard to strike a cut-price deal with City.

While speaking about Grealish’s future, O’Rourke said, “I think you probably have to say that Everton are in pole position to sign Grealish if he does end up leaving Man City, whether that’s on a permanent or a loan.

“Obviously, Everton do have that £50million purchase option in the current loan agreement for Grealish right now. Everton don’t really want to pay that and they would like to renegotiate that, maybe even a smaller fee, maybe around £20million.

“He’s obviously got no long-term future at Manchester City, I think that’s pretty certain. City will be open to all options to see Grealish move on whether that’s on a permanent or a loan. There’ll be talks to be held between Everton and City probably to see if a deal can be agreed and I’m sure there’s other clubs who will be monitoring his situation at City as well.”

Everton are willing to fork out around £20 million to make his move permanent, and are they currently negotiating with Manchester City. Since he will only have a year left on his deal next summer, the Citizens could consider a cut-price offer. However, his wages could still cause problems for the Merseyside club.
