Predicted Chelsea lineup against Leeds United: Estevao to return; Andrey Santos misses out
Estevao Willian will return to the Chelsea starting lineup when they welcome Leeds United to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Chelsea will be eager to continue the flawless start in the Premier League under Liam Rosenior when they host Leeds United at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. The Englishman has received positive updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Rosenior has been sweating over the fitness of Reece James (illness) and Andrey Santos (ankle), with the latter being at the receiving end of a heavy tackle this past weekend. However, the duo will be in contention to take on Leeds United. Additionally, Tosin Adarabioyo and Romeo Lavia have also stepped up their recoveries from hamstring issues.
However, Dario Essugo and Jamie Gittens remain in the treatment room due to their hamstring injuries. Additionally, Mykhailo Mudryk continues his suspension after failing a doping test over a year ago. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Rosenior provided fitness updates on Reece James, Cole Palmer, Andrey Santos, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Romeo Lavia.
The Chelsea boss said, “Reece is fit, he’s okay. A small issue is that he is feeling unwell today. It’s no conspiracy, it’s the truth. Hopefully he’s well enough to be involved [against Leeds]. Elsewhere, Cole is available for tomorrow. Andrey Santos trained today, he’s a soldier and he’s absolutely fine. He had a swollen ankle [against Wolves], it wasn’t a great tackle on him but he’s fine for tomorrow.”
“Tosin is looking good, he trained today and it’s great to have him in and around the group. Romeo, we have a really detailed plan for him and he has been on the training pitch with us in the last two days which has been great to see. As I’ve said before, he’s such a great player but what we have to do is make sure that when he’s back, he’s back for good.”
Robert Sanchez is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Leeds United on Tuesday. The backline will feature Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and Marc Cucurella. So, Reece James will be a backup option on the bench.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Moises Caicedo and Andrey Santos in the double pivot. Cole Palmer will reprise the no. 10 role, with Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto being the two wide attackers. Finally, Joao Pedro will lead the line for the home side against Leeds United. So, Andrey Santos, Liam Delap, and Alejandro Garnacho will be among the backup options on the bench.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estevao, Palmer, Neto; Joao Pedro
