Napoli aiming for Antonio Vergara’s contract renewal

Napoli are moving swiftly to secure the future of their breakout star, Antonio Vergara, as the youngster continues to dazzle in the blue shirt.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, club CEO Aurelio De Laurentiis is prepared to take personal charge of the situation and will soon meet with the player’s agent to discuss a long-term contract extension. The Partenopei are aiming to lock the 23-year-old down with a new deal that would run until 2030, reflecting his newfound status as an untouchable in Antonio Conte’s squad.

Vergara’s rise to prominence has been one of the stories of the season in Italy. Thrust into the spotlight during a severe injury crisis that saw both David Neres and Matteo Politano sidelined, the academy product has stepped up with remarkable maturity. He proved his pedigree on the biggest stage by netting a delightful goal against Chelsea in European competition and followed it up with a clinical strike and an assist against Fiorentina.

Having successfully navigated the pressure of leading the line when the team needed him most, Vergara has earned the full trust of his manager. By offering a five-year extension, Napoli intend to reward his exponential growth and ward off the inevitable interest from Europe’s elite clubs following his four consecutive starts and match-winning contributions in early 2026.
