Manchester City interested in John Aramburu

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are keen on acquiring the services of Real Sociedad defensive sensation John Aramburu.

John Aramburu’s sensational rise hasn’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs have taken note of his performances, and Manchester City are one of them. According to a report from Fichajes, Pep Guardiola’s team are interested in acquiring the services of the Venezuelan international, as they look to bolster the right flank.

The Manchester-based giants have tried quite a few faces at the right-back position, but they have yet to find an ideal long-term replacement for Kyle Walker. Aramburu’s rise in the Spanish top flight has caught his attention, and they are looking to add him to their ranks.

The 23-year-old full-back joined the Sociedad setup in the summer of 2023. In less than a year’s time, he got promoted to their first team and has only gone from strength to strength since.

He has established himself as one of the mainstays in no time, and his performances have placed him on the radar of the biggest clubs in Europe. In the ongoing campaign, he has been involved in 24 matches and has even bagged a goal.

Aramburu to join Manchester City?

While his contract at Sociedad runs until the summer of 2030, City could try to prise him away next summer. While Tino Livramento was their priority target for the full-back position, Newcastle’s asking price has forced them to look at alternatives.

Aramburu is another name on their list of targets. Their scouts have passed glowing reports about the young full-back, and City want him at all costs. City have experimented with different players at right-back, but now they have decided to look for a young defender with a solid base.

Signing a natural right-back is a top priority for them, and Aramburu is considered a perfect fit. City will have to put forward a figure close to his €60 million release clause to stand a chance of securing his services.

While Matheus Nunes, who has filled in at right-back, and academy graduate Rico Lewis have done a decent job, they have not entirely convinced Guardiola, which is why City are also exploring a move for the Venezuelan international.
