Napoli schedule contract talks with Scott McTominay
Napoli are preparing to secure the long-term future of Scott McTominay as the Scottish midfielder continues to prove his worth as a pillar of Antonio Conte’s project.
According to AreaNapoli, the Partenopei have scheduled negotiations for a contract renewal to take place at the end of the current season. McTominay’s commitment to the Neapolitan cause has already been tested; the report reveals that he recently rejected mega offers from Saudi Arabia, including a proposal worth €12 million per season plus bonuses, in order to remain in Italy.
His performances at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona have not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham both credited with a strong interest in bringing the former Manchester United man back to England. However, Napoli have no intention of letting their star midfielder go.
The club’s plan is to extend McTominay’s stay until June 2030, with an additional option to push the expiry date to 2031. By locking him down to a virtually lifetime deal, Aurelio De Laurentiis aims to ward off interest from the Premier League and reward the player for his loyalty and central role in the squad’s hierarchy.
