Milan’s pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta has officially collapsed, with the deal now definitively off the table as the transfer deadline looms.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal between the Rossoneri and Crystal Palace reached a breaking point following a chaotic few days of uncertainty. While a financial agreement between the clubs had long been in place, the move was initially destabilized by medical concerns. During tests conducted over the weekend, issues emerged regarding the striker’s knee, prompting Milan to demand further specialized examinations to ensure the player’s long-term fitness.

However, the physical doubts were not the only hurdle. As previously reported, the background of the deal was heavily clouded by high commission demands from Mateta’s agents. This issue had already caused Juventus to pull out of talks for the Frenchman earlier in the window, and it appears Milan have encountered similar friction.
