Crystal Palace in talks with Lyon over Ruben Kluivert

Crystal Palace have entered into Deadline Day talks with Olympique Lyonnais over the potential signing of centre-back Ruben Kluivert (24), according to Foot Mercato. The Eagles are scouring the market for a centre-back in the wake of Marc Guéhi’s move to Premier League rivals Manchester City FC.

Palace are said to be keen on Patrick Kluivert’s son, who only joined Lyon last summer in exchange for a €3m transfer fee. The 24-year-old has had a shaky start to life as Lyon. But with Moussa Niakhaté leaving to compete in the AFCON with Senegal, the Dutch centre-back impressed with a handful of remarkable performances at the back.

On Sunday, he took part in Lyon’s tenth win in all competitions with a brilliant assist for Noah Nartey’s opening goal. Given Kluivert’s low transfer fee and the fact he is tied with OL over a contract set to expire in 2030, Lyon could make a hefty plus-value from his sale.
