Newcastle United front-runners to sign Brahim Diaz

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are leading the race for the signature of Real Madrid attacking sensation Brahim Diaz.

Brahim Diaz’s future has become a big talking point in recent weeks, as he hasn’t had enough game time at Real Madrid this season. Multiple top clubs are ready to prise him away from Spain, but according to a report from Fichajes, Newcastle United are front-runners to sign the Moroccan international.

Diaz initially joined Real Madrid back in 2019, but he spent a significant amount of time out on loan. He was finally integrated into their first team in the summer of 2023 by Carlo Ancelotti following an impressive two-year-long spell at AC Milan.

Diaz’s time at Real Madrid could come to an end

While he was never really a regular starter, Diaz certainly had a very important role under the Italian manager. However, a lot changed following the arrival of Xabi Alonso. The 26-year-old’s game time has gone down, and it hasn’t improved much since Alvaro Arbeloa’s arrival.

Diaz has only racked up 505 minutes in 20 appearances across competitions. He is not pleased about his current situation. While his contract runs until 2027, he is seriously considering his options amidst interest from multiple top clubs.

Meanwhile, the report suggests Real Madrid are more than willing to negotiate his departure in the final days of the window. They would green-light the move if an offer from an interested club satisfies them. Los Blancos would want an offer worth around €60 million to sanction his departure.

Diaz could join Newcastle United

Multiple English clubs are interested in him, but it seems Newcastle are in pole position to secure his services. They believe he is a perfect fit for the style of football they play under Howe. His abilities, along with his versatility, make him a top target for clubs in the Premier League.

The Magpies want to compete with the biggest clubs in the world and thrive in competitions like the Champions League. As a result, they seek more quality and feel a player like Diaz could do wonders for them.

The Tyneside club might actually be ready to offer around €60 million to get a deal over the line. They are stepping up their pursuit to quickly wrap up his signing.
