Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic hopeful of remaining in Hamburg and playing alongside elder brother Mario
In an interview with the Wednesday print edition of Sport Bild, Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic has expressed the desire to remain with Hamburg. The fact that Vuskovic continue to perform well in the Bundesliga (and continues to raise his estimated market value) nevertheless renders the possibility of a stay rather remote. Tottenham have no reason to part company with their budding gem cheaply.
The last time Get German Football News reported on the possibility of Hamburg keeping Vuskovic, the 18-year-old maintained an estimated €18m market value. Vuskovic’s market value continues to skyrocket. The defender – worth an estimated €12m when he transferred to Hamburg – is now considered a €40m-valued player after the latest December Transfermarkt update.
Vuskovic still retains a great deal of passion for Hamburg. The club that assigned Luka the tricot number of his elder brother Mario means a great deal to the younger sibling. The possibility of one day playing with Mario, once he returns from his doping ban, fuels Luka’s desire to remain in the Hanseatic city state.
Luka Vuskovic’s closeness with Mario led to a recent incident
In last Friday night’s Hamberger “Stadtderby” between HSV and St. Pauli, Vuskovic ended up losing his cool after St. Pauli fans taunted him with mention of his brother. Luka clearly feels as if there’s work left to be done defending his brother’s honor. Even if there exists little-to-no chance of Tottenham selling, an extension of Luka’s loan arrangement could still be worked out.
Luka Vuskovic’s words
“I’ll ultimately decide what’s best for me,” Luka remarked in the Sport Bild interview. “It would be great to play alongside Mario at this incredible club!“
