Aston Villa agree deal to sign Tammy Abraham
Aston Villa have agreed a player-plus-cash deal to bring Tammy Abraham to the club from Besiktas, with defender Yasin Ozcan moving the other way.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed an imminent deal from Aston Villa to sign Tammy Abraham. The Premier League side have agreed a player-plus-cash deal to bring the English striker back to Villa Park, while young defender Yasin Ozcan is also set to be a part of the deal.
Aston Villa are being creative in the transfer market in a bid to bolster their squad for the second part of the season ahead. There was a need to strengthen the squad as the club are challenging on multiple fronts with different objectives, as Unai Emery wanted the team to get some players in.
They had sold Donyell Malen to AS Roma earlier this month and had since been on the lookout for a new striker. Aston Villa had set its sights on Tammy Abraham, who had been in excellent form with Besiktas since joining them on loan in the summer, with the club holding a buy obligation at the end of his spell.
Aston Villa also briefly showed interest in wantaway Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, but with uncertainty surrounding the Frenchman. Villa have been in the box seat for Abraham in the last few days, and it appears they have closed the deal.
Besiktas have presumably triggered the buy obligation with Roma, and are now on the verge of selling Abraham to Aston Villa. The English striker had had a productive half-season with the Turkish giants with 16 goal contributions this term, but he is now ready to cut short his stay and return to the Premier League and his former side, Aston Villa.
Tammy Abraham, a smart deal by Villa?
Villa have agreed to pay €21 million plus addons as well as send young defender Yasin Ozcan to Besiktas as part of the deal. The defender was on loan with Belgian side Anderlecht and is now set to cut short his stay to join the Turkish giants.
Abraham is all set to fly out to the UK to undergo his medicals and other formalities before sealing the move to Villa. The attacker will be a solid addition to Emery’s side for the present and future, as he also brings loads of experience at the top level, including in the Premier League from his spell at Chelsea.
