Chelsea considering big-money move for Joao Neves

Chelsea are considering an audacious. move for PSG star Joao Neves in the event of Enzo Fernandez’s exit from the club.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are making big plans to replace Enzo Fernandez if the Argentine midfielder ends up departing. They have set sights on PSG star Joao Neves as a potential replacement option, with the Parisians set to play hardball in their own efforts to keep the 21-year-old sensation.

Real Madrid wanted Enzo Fernandez last summer, as he credibly featured on their shortlist of midfielders. Former manager Xabi Alonso also liked the idea of landing the Argentine midfielder, with current Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi, thought to be his preferred target at the time.

Fernandez is a target for Real Madrid even though Alonso has left the club, which has put Chelsea on high alert. As per the report, should the Spanish giants make a move for the Argentine World Cup winner, Chelsea might be powerless in retaining the midfielder.

The Blues are already making plans for how they want to replace Fernandez, as PSG’s 21-year-old sensation Joao Neves is a firm target. The Portuguese midfielder has made his mark early in his career after gaining a top drawer move to the French giants, and helped them win the ‘Treble’ last season, as one of the mainstays in Luis Enrique’s plans.

Now, there is a question whether he would be angling for a much bigger move than PSG, as Chelsea are hoping to lure him to the club. The Blues will likely make the move should Fernandez depart, as they see him as a replacement for the Argentine. PSG, for their part, are not even thinking about selling the 21-year-old sensation, and will play hardball in their efforts to keep hold of the Portuguese star.

Will PSG sell Joao Neves?

The report states, PSG will only consider negotiating for figures starting from €125 million or more, and Chelsea have traditionally been known to pay big sums for their top targets. The second issue is whether the Blues would be able to pay a top salary to the 21-year-old sensation, given that he will demand a top-draw contract at the top end.

There are plenty of obstacles along the way in Chelsea’s pursuit of Neves, with PSG likely to find ways to price the Blues out of the race. As things stand, there’s no indication the 21-year-old sensation is looking for a change away from Paris, where he continues to enjoy life on and off the pitch.
