Predicted Manchester United lineup against Manchester City: Mbeumo, Casemiro to return; Amad on the bench

Casemiro and Bryan Mbeumo will return to the Manchester United starting lineup when they host Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways when they welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Michael Carrick has received a positive update on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo have resumed training after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, and they will be available to take on Manchester City. However, Noussair Mazraoui will feature in the AFCON final on Sunday and will only be back next weekend.

Additionally, Matthijs de Ligt remains in the treatment room due to his lower back injury, while Shea Lacey will serve a suspension after being sent off in the FA Cup third-round tie with Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. Meanwhile, in a conversation with the club media, Carrick provided a fitness update on the Dutch defender.

The Manchester United boss said, “We’ve had a good week really.Matthijs de Ligt has been carrying a bit of an issue but, hopefully, we’ll get him back in some time soon. It’s been a little bit slower than what they thought previously.”

“All in all, the boys are in good shape. I just feel the energy, whether it’s fresh or not! Obviously, I’m delighted to be here. I want to work a certain way, I want to enjoy what we do and work hard to get success. The boys have put the work in this week and we feel we’re ready.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him vs Manchester City on Saturday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo in the double pivot, with Bruno Fernandes reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Benjamin Sesko will lead the line for the Red Devils against Manchester City, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo completing the numbers in the offensive unit. So, Amad Diallo, Patrick Dorgu, and Leny Yoro will be among the backup options on the bench for the home side.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, Cunha; Sesko
