Predicted Liverpool lineup against Burnley: Alisson, Wirtz among six players to return

Alisson Becker and Florian Wirtz will return to the Liverpool starting lineup when they host Burnley at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool will be eager to return to winning ways in the Premier League and continue the recent unbeaten run in all competitions when they welcome Burnley to Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Arne Slot has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Conor Bradley (knee), Giovanni Leoni (knee), Wataru Endo (ankle), and Alexander Isak (leg) remain in the treatment room. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is still at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he will participate in the third-place match with Egypt on Saturday.

Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot provided fitness updates on Leoni, Bradley, and Isak. However, the Dutch tactician also confirmed that his squad did not have any new absentees.

The Liverpool boss said, “Yes, we’ve got a few injuries. We’ve got Giovanni Leoni out for the season, we’ve got Conor Bradley out for the season and Alexander Isak out for multiple months. But for the rest I think everyone is available.”

During his presser, Slot also discussed Mohamed Salah’s absence and revealed when the veteran attacker would be available again for the Merseyside outfit. While the Dutchman confirmed that Salah would return next week, it is unclear if he will be available for the UEFA Champions League clash with Marseille.

The Liverpool boss said, “Next week. We are in talks with him, what is expected of him over there, what is expected over here, but first of all he needs to have a game on Saturday and next week he will be back with us. First of all, he needs to play another big game for Egypt on Saturday and then he comes back to us and I’m happy that he comes back.”

“Mo has been so important for this club, for me, so I am happy he is back. Even if I had 15 attackers, I would have still been happy that he comes back. That’s not our current situation, so happy to have him back after an important game he has to play. That’s [Champions League availability] something we are talking about together now.”

Alisson Becker will replace Giorgi Mamardashvili between the sticks, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Burnley on Saturday. The backline will feature Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez.

As for the midfield unit, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai will pair up in the double pivot, with Alexis Mac Allister reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Hugo Ekitike, one of the options for FPL captaincy in Gameweek 22, will lead the line for the home side against Burnley, with Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz completing the numbers in the offensive unit.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Wirtz, Mac Allister, Gakpo; Ekitike
