Napoli Taking a Look at Verona, Chelsea and Roma Stars

Napoli and Roma are poised to duke it out for some transfer market targets, but could also potentially concoct a trade down the line. The two sides are both keen on Hellas Verona’s Giovane. However, Atalanta and Lazio are eyeing him too. It could cost up to €20M to acquire Brazilian talent, La Repubblica reports.

The Partenopei are in the hunt for a pacey winger and have set their sights on Raheem Sterling, Corriere dello Sport relays. He’s been frozen out by Chelsea this year. He has a wealthy contract, but he could take a pay cut to return to action. He scored once and provided 5 assists in 28 games while on loan at Arsenal last season.

Roma are primed to beat Napoli in the race for Giacomo Raspadori and are waiting for the final okay from the Italian forward. If the Giallorossi don’t manage to acquire Joshua Zirkzee, they could consider a swap between Lorenzo Lucca and Artem Dovbyk.

It’s not the top solution for either side, but it’ll depend on how their other pursuits and deals will go. The Partenopei are trying to offload the former Udinese man. Benfica and Nottingham are interested, but they consider his €30M price tag excessive. The Azzurri could also take a look at Evan Ferguson if he were sent back to Brighton.

Our Take on Napoli and Roma

They’ll need some luck not to take a bath on Lucca’s exit. Signing Dovbyk would be a lateral move, plus he’s hurt. Romelu Lukaku must have suffered a significant setback if they are searching there. They’ll have to avoid the mistakes of the summer, as it appears that only super-established players are up to snuff for Antonio Conte.
