Radu Dragusin reluctant to join Fiorentina amid emerging links
Out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin has no interest in joining relegation-threatened Serie A club Fiorentina.
According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Radu Dragusin is the subject of interest from Fiorentina. The relegation-threatened Serie A club will aim to reinforce the defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 23-year-old out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur centre-back has emerged as a target for La Viola.
Fabio Paratici, who will join Fiorentina as the new head of football after leaving Tottenham in the coming days, is pushing to sign Dragusin. However, the Bucharest native is reluctant to join La Viola in the winter transfer window, even though he faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
How has Radu Dragusin fared at Tottenham?
Radu Dragusin has struggled to make his mark since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa in a deal worth €30 million in January 2024. The 23-year-old joined the North London club after showing remarkable progress during his stint with Genoa. However, the youngster has yet to become a regular for Tottenham, and a long-term knee injury kept him on the sidelines for most of 2025.
Dragusin has managed only 38 appearances thus far for Tottenham, amassing 2,609 minutes of game time. However, the Romanian defender’s stock remains high, and a return to Serie A may be on the cards. Fiorentina will be among the prospective suitors vying for the young defender’s signature in the winter transfer window.
Serie A return on the cards?
Radu Dragusin has been on Fiorentina’s wishlist for over a year. The continued interest is understandable, as they are desperate to rescue a disastrous season thus far after winning only two Serie A games in the ongoing campaign. While two wins in three matches have lifted La Viola from the bottom of the table, they are still three points behind 17th-placed Genoa.
Several candidates, including Axel Disasi, have thus emerged on Fiorentina’s radar, with Dragusin also a viable target. However, a January deal may not materialise, as the Bucharest-born defender is hesitant to join La Viola. Nevertheless, Fabio Paratici, who will join Fiorentina as the new head of football after leaving Tottenham in the coming days, is masterminding a move for Dragusin.
Meanwhile, the relegation-threatened Serie A club will not be alone in the race to sign Dragusin, as recent reports have linked the 23-year-old Romanian international with several other well-known clubs, including AC Milan. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Tottenham defender, who has no future at the North London club but will unlikely join Fiorentina.
