Vincent Mannaert confirms Rudi Garcia will lead the Belgian Red Devils at the 2026 World Cup

As reported by HLN, there will be no late change to the head coach of the Belgian Red Devils going into next years World Cup. Rumours had been circulating that, after a poor end of their qualification campaign, Belgium were tempted to part ways with Rudi Garcia. However, the Sporting Director at the Belgian FA, Vincent Mannaert, has confirmed that Rudi Garcia is the man to lead Belgium at the 2026 World Cup.

Belgium have been given a favorable draw, with New Zealand, Iran and Egypt joining them in the group stages of the World Cup. However, during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the side failed to make it out of the group. This was a sad end for many of the Golden Generation who had elevated Belgium from outsiders to potential dark horses at a number of tournaments. The best that the Golden Generation managed was an impressive third placed finish at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. For many, the semi-final against France was really the final, as the winner was always favourite to go on to win the tournament.

The Red Devils are unlikely to be going to the 2026 edition of the World Cup as Dark Horses, but getting out of the group is now the minimum requirement for Rudi Garcia and his side.
