Three La Liga clubs keen on Guido Rodriguez move in January

Three La Liga clubs are interested in signing West Ham United outcast Guido Rodriguez in the winter transfer window.

Guido Rodriguez’s future has become a massive talking point as he is not a part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans moving ahead, and his contract is running out at the end of the season. West Ham United seem ready to sanction his departure in the upcoming transfer window.

According to a report from Fichajes, three La Liga outfits are interested in his signature as they look to reinforce their midfield. Real Sociedad, Girona and Villarreal are believed to be the ones keen on signing the Argentine international.

After making a name for himself with his impressive performances at Real Betis, Rodriguez made the move to London on a free transfer in the summer of 2024. While the Hammers had a lot of expectations from the midfielder, he hasn’t been able to live up to them.

He has struggled to cement his spot in the team, and of late, he has hardly had any minutes under Nuno. He doesn’t seem to be an important part of their plans. As a result, the Hammers are ready to sanction his departure in the winter window.

While they won’t mind having him in their squad until the end of his contract, a departure in January could actually free up a lot of space on their wage bill, helping them make some significant additions to their squad.

Spanish clubs set to battle for Rodriguez

With him likely to be available, Real Sociedad, Girona and Villarreal have all made their interest known. Sociedad appear to be the most interested of them all. They seem immediate reinforcement in the centre of the park and are looking for an experienced campaigner.

Meanwhile, Girona have enquired about his availability as they believe he could help them maintain their top-flight status. Following an impressive start to the season, the Yellow Submarine seek more depth and quality in midfield and believes Rodriguez, who did wonders at Betis back in the day, could help their cause.

The 31-year-old seeks a more prominent role, and he would absolutely love to return to Spain, where he has had a lot of success. Meanwhile, his departure could allow West Ham to bring in someone who is a better fit in Nuno’s system.
