Jules Koundé make Barça history in victory over Eintracht Frankfurt

Jules Koundé (27) has added his name to the history books at FC Barcelona. The French international‘s heroics lifted the reigning La Liga champions to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday.

As a result, they are now four points above the knockout stage line in that competition. Meanwhile, Koundé became the first player in the club’s history to score two headed goals in the same Champions League fixture.

Recently, Koundé drew even with Clément Lenglet (30) for third-most caps by a French player in the club’s history. Only Ousmane Dembélé (28) and Eric Abidal have more. Hansi Flick’s men are currently first in the La Liga table with 40 points, four more than Real Madrid. Koundé’s two goals on Tuesday are the most that he’s netted in a European competition, equalling the two he scored for Girondins de Bordeaux in the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League.
