Predicted Chelsea lineup against Atalanta: Joao Pedro in for Delap; Caicedo in midfield
Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro will return to the Chelsea starting lineup when they take on Atalanta in a UEFA Champions League clash at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday.
Chelsea will be eager to return to winning ways and continue the excellent unbeaten run in the UEFA Champions League when they lock horns with Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday night. Enzo Maresca has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Liam Delap is the latest absentee after picking up a shoulder injury this past weekend against Bournemouth. The English striker has joined Levi Colwill (knee), Dario Essugo (hamstring), and Romeo Lavia (thigh) in the treatment room, with the quartet not part of the travelling squad. Meanwhile, Cole Palmer is also not in the group as Maresca continues to ease him back into the thick of things.
Additionally, Mykhailo Mudryk will continue his suspension after failing a doping test several months ago. However, Moises Caicedo is available, as his ban is valid only in the Premier League. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Maresca provided fitness updates on Delap and Palmer.
The Chelsea boss said, “Liam, fortunately, there is no fracture, which is good news. Cole, it’s part of his process at the moment. He is not available, he can’t play two games in three days, so we planned this and it’s a way to protect him.”
“In terms of how long he [Delap] will be out, we are not sure at this stage to be honest. Reece and Wes are both with us, so both are available for tomorrow’s game. Then we will see the starting eleven tomorrow.”
Robert Sanchez is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Atalanta on Tuesday. The backline will feature Malo Gusto, Josh Acheampong, Trevoh Chalobah, and Jorrel Hato.
As for the midfield unit, Andrey Santos will likely line up alongside Moises Caicedo in the double pivot, with Enzo Fernandez reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Joao Pedro will spearhead the Chelsea attack against Atalanta, with Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian being the two wide attackers.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Acheampong, Chalobah, Hato; Caicedo, Santos; Estevao, Enzo Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro
