Predicted Manchester United lineup against West Ham United: Bruno Fernandes a doubt; Cunha in contention
Matheus Cunha may return to the Manchester United starting lineup when they host West Ham United at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Manchester United will be eager to build on the win over Crystal Palace this past weekend when they welcome West Ham United to Old Trafford on Thursday night. Ruben Amorim has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Amorim is sweating over the fitness of two players, with speculation rife that one of those may be Bruno Fernandes after he was seen clutching at his left hamstring towards the end of the game against Crystal Palace. However, Matheus Cunha is fit and available to take on West Ham United after resuming training this week.
So, Harry Maguire (hamstring) and Benjamin Sesko (knee) are the only players in the treatment room for the home side apart from the two injury doubts. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim did not reveal the two players struggling with minor issues.
Otherwise, the Manchester United manager only provided brief fitness updates on Matheus Cunha, Harry Maguire, and Benjamin Sesko. The Portuguese tactician said, “We have two doubts for the game.”
“I will not tell you today because we will change the way we are going to approach [the game]. Let’s see if they can play tomorrow. The rest of the squad is good. Matheus is good. Harry Maguire and Sesko [are out].”
Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against West Ham United on Thursday. The central defensive unit will feature Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez. Martinez’s return will enable Luke Shaw to play as the left wing-back, while Amad Diallo will start on the right flank.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the double pivot, with the latter unlikely to start on the bench even if he is not fully fit. Finally, Joshua Zirkzee will lead the line for the home side against West Ham United, with Mason Mount and Bryan Mbeumo completing the numbers.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez; Amad, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Shaw; Mbeumo, Mount; Zirkzee
