Chelsea, Manchester United lining up €50 million move for Serhou Guirassy

Chelsea and Manchester United are competing for the signature of Serhou Guirassy after a clause in his contract has come to light.

According to Fichajes, Serhou Guirassy has been gaining a lot of attention following a release clause in his contract. Manchester United and Chelsea are among those chasing the Guinean forward, with a €50 million move being lined up ahead of the future.

The summer of 2024 produced ample opportunities for some of the big clubs to take their bet on Serhou Guirassy as VfB Stuttgart stood powerless owing to a modest release clause in his contract. The Guinean forward was sensational for the Bundesliga side the season before, and Borussia Dortmund took their chances by signing him.

He has since successfully replaced German international Niclas Fullkrug, while many clubs, especially those from the Premier League, did not bet on the player. Having now proven his worth with Dortmund, many top teams are now interested in the 29-year-old striker ahead of future windows.

Borussia Dortmund are unlikely to entertain a January sale, but his contract has a release clause specific to certain clubs, which makes things complicated, especially if the clause is active in January. However, Serhou Guirassy is likely to lean towards a summer departure, even though recent rumours have suggested he could be offered to Manchester United for January.

Chelsea are also interested in Guirassy as an option to improve their attack in the near future, especially if their current strikers do not work out. The same could be said about Manchester United, who are considering various options if they manage to offload Joshua Zirkzee in January or next summer.

Serhou Guirassy on the move?

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly prepared to trigger the €50 million release clause in the 29-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker’s contract. Should both clubs manage to make their case, it would be a battle of sorts for the signature of the Guinean international.

Serhou Guirassy probably wants another big move in the near future, as he could have several high-profile options for him to choose from. Chelsea and Manchester United could be viewed as viable destinations, but it will depend on the project and the finances on offer.
