PSG’s Nuno Mendes to miss Monaco clash

Nuno Mendes will miss Saturday’s game against AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has confirmed.

Mendes was forced off at halftime during PSG’s 5-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday with a thigh injury. The Portugal international’s injury is minimal, however, no risks will be taken, and so he will not make the trip to the Principality this weekend.

Hakimi, Doué also out against Monaco

Luis Enrique has said that Mendes’ absence is precautionary, adding that, had it been a final, the defender would have wanted to play. He adds to a not extensive but not inconsequential injury list. Achraf Hakimi will also miss the trip to Monaco; the Morocco international is in a race to be fit for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Désiré Doué is also out, but could appear before the end of the calendar year, and third-choice goalkeeper Renato Marin is also absent for the European champions.
