Inter Milan want to sign Emiliano Martinez

Cristian Chivu’s Inter Milan are keen on acquiring the services of Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez.

The Argentine World Cup winner’s future has been a big talking point for months. He was on the verge of leaving the club during the summer, but things didn’t go according to plan for him. He has been constantly linked with a move away, and could finally end up leaving in Villa Park in 2026.

According to a report from Fichajes, Inter Milan are interested in signing Emiliano Martinez, as they look to add more quality in between the sticks. They are putting together an ambitious operation to secure his services in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Martinez has done wonders for Aston Villa since joining them in the summer of 2020 from Arsenal. While he has been an undisputed starter for them over the years, the 33-year-old is now keen on joining a bigger club as he wants to fight for major honours.

The Argentine international was on the verge of joining Manchester United in the summer, but the Red Devils ended up going ahead with Senne Lammens in the end. While Martinez remained at the club, and he still has well over three years left on his deal, he seems keen on trying a new challenge in the near future.

Inter want Martinez to replace Sommer

Villa are well aware of his desire, and are willing to let him leave in the upcoming transfer window, as long as they manage to bring in a replacement. With him set to be available, Inter Milan are willing to try their luck.

The Italian giants are in the market for a new shot-stopper as Yann Sommer’s contract runs out at the end of the season. They want someone who can replace the 36-year-old going forward, as Josep Martinez has failed to make a case for himself in the limited opportunities he has had.

Inter feel the Villa goalkeeper will not only help them cope with Sommer’s absence, but he could even end up being an upgrade on the Swiss international. The Italian giants are working quietly but decisively, as they consider this to be too good an opportunity to miss out on.
