Brendan Rodgers considering Premier League return amid Fulham links

Having parted ways with Celtic, Brendan Rodgers is now considering returning to the Premier League amidst interest from Fulham.

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers could secure a return to the Premier League, as Fulham seem interested in having him on their bench if they part ways with Marco Silva.

After an impressive spell at Leicester City, Rodgers returned to Celtic in the summer of 2023 for a second stint at the Scottish club. While he certainly had a positive impact at the club, the 52-year-old resigned last month because of disagreements with the board over their transfer strategy.

Rodgers was frustrated with how things went in the summer transfer window, and with the board not willing to back him in the winter window, he decided to part ways with the club last month. Now that he is without a job, the former Liverpool boss is eyeing a Premier League return.

He could be back at top-level management sooner rather than later, as quite a few English clubs are interested in his services. Brendan Rodgers will be right up there on the wishlist of any Premier League outfit that ends up requiring a managerial change.

While there is not vacant job available in the English top flight at this point, Fulham seem interested in having him on their bench amidst uncertainty around Marco Silva’s future because of the club’s inconsistent performances this season.

Pete O’Rourke’s take on Brendan Rodgers and a Premier League return

While speaking about Rodgers’ next gig on Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke said, “Yeah, I’m sure he’d be somebody who’s maybe on their list because he’s out of work, Brendan Rodgers. He’s probably one of the best free-agent managers on the market right now as well, he’s Premier League proven from his time at Liverpool and Leicester and had success at Celtic.

“If there’s any club out there who needs a manager at the highest level, Brendan Rodgers is going to be in contention. There’s no doubt about that. He’s still regarded as one of the best managers around, and his availability will attract interest from a lot of clubs. Any top jobs that do come up between now and in the new year, Brendan Rodgers is obviously going to figure in the thinking of a number of clubs.”

Fulham could look to appoint Rodgers

While Fulham have been working on a new deal for Marco Silva, there are still doubts about his future at the club as the West London outfit have not enjoyed the best of starts to the new season.

The Cottagers are 15th on the table, and if results do not go their way over the next weeks, they could look at a managerial change ahead of the winter transfer window. They are considering approaching Rodgers with the opportunity to take over from Silva. However, it will depend on how the team performs until the end of the year.
