Manchester United confident of signing Elliot Anderson for £60 million
Manchester United are confident of landing Elliot Anderson at a cost lower than the £100 million mentioned in reports.
According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are optimistic about landing key midfield target Elliot Anderson for around £60 million rather than the £100 million quoted in the media. The midfielder is being chased by several top-tier Premier League sides, including Chelsea, although the Red Devils remain confident that the player wants the move.
Manchester United’s need to sign a new midfielder is no secret, with the Red Devils failing in the pursuit of Carlos Baleba last summer. They have a few key stars on their list, including Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton, but none are expected to move in January.
Manchester United are ready to accelerate a move for Ruben Neves in January, with the Al-Hilal midfielder readily available for a move in the winter window. While the Portuguese might arrive, the club are not shifting focus from the likes of Anderson.
The Red Devils were prepared to pay big for Anderson in January, but Nottingham Forest are in a powerful position to keep hold of the now-established England international. Media reports have quoted a fee of £100 million for the midfielder, as he does not have any shortage of suitors, with Liverpool and Chelsea among those interested.
Much like Wharton and Baleba, Manchester United are set to be priced out of a move in January, but they are confident of landing the midfielder for around £60 million. The reported price point is much lower than the ones quoted for the £100m-rated PL midfielder, as the Red Devils believe the player wants the move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United confident on Elliot Anderson
The report states £70 million as a realistic price point for Anderson, but Manchester United are confident of paying even lower at about £60 million. However, they are not alone as Chelsea are also keen on the midfielder, and could be willing to pay big.
Forest might be powerless next summer in their efforts to hold on to Anderson, especially if they cannot make it to the Champions League. Hence, Manchester United have a chance, especially if the player is keen on a switch to Old Trafford.
