Juventus Attached to Bayern Munich Defensive Pair

Juventus could potentially add a new right-back in January since Joao Mario hasn’t panned out and have been offered Sacha Boey, who hasn’t found his footing at Bayern Munich. He was proposed to them also during the summer, but they passed on him, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

The Bianconeri didn’t search for the Frenchman directly, but an intermediary suggested he could depart for the right sum. He’s done it again in recent days, and the club officials filed it away. He has notched 37 appearances, scoring once and assisting 5 times, since transferring to the Bundesliga for €30M in July 2024, missing a lot of time due to injury last season.

Rather than on Boey, Juventus were keen on another Bayern Munich fullback in the summer, Josep Stanisic, who can man both flanks. However, the German powerhouse wasn’t open for business. Their youth product has featured ten times this campaign, recently returning from a knee injury. He has 27 caps with Croatia.

As for the midfield, the Old Lady is actively looking for a new piece but won’t pull off major coups, like, for instance, Morten Hjulmand. Granit Xhaka is unlikely to leave and, eventually, he won’t do it for a meager fee, as the Turin-based side would like.

Our Take on Juventus, Boey, Stanisic, and Xhaka

They’ll have to sign a strong right-back eventually, but at least they have a few options there, especially if they switch to a four-man line, while their midfield is very thin and lacks a technical leader. If they have the ammo for just one good signing in January, that’s where they should focus. However, they’ll have to open their purse strings at least a little to bring in a quality reinforcement.
