Manchester United fail with €90 million bid to sign Aurelien Tchouameni
Real Madrid have reportedly rejected a €90 million offer from Manchester United for midfield mainstay Aurelien Tchouameni.
According to Fichajes, Manchester United have reportedly failed with a €90 million offer for Aurelien Tchouameni. Real Madrid, for their part, are not interested in parting ways with the 25-year-old in the current moment, as a fresh approach might need to include a bigger offer to even let Florentino Perez consider entering into negotiations.
Manchester United are expected to enter the January transfer window in search of a new midfielder to shore up their ranks. There are considerable doubts at the club on the options behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, as a new holding midfielder is high on their agenda.
Carlos Baleba was a big target last summer before Manchester United backed away from the pursuit owing to Brighton & Hove Albion’s stance and the potential asking price. The Cameroonian midfielder remains on their list ahead of January, alongside others, but the Red Devils are expected to be priced out of moves for all their key targets.
Ruben Neves is also on their list, as the Al-Hilal midfielder is out of contract in the summer and represents a big option for any team interested in a powerful midfielder. His former club, Wolves’ star midfielder Joao Gomes is another name on their list, but there are obvious complications ahead of a January move.
Now, the report states, Manchester United have failed with a €90 million offer for 25-year-old Real Madrid mainstay Aurelien Tchouameni in what appears to be an early window move. The Red Devils were interested in the Frenchman back in the summer as one of the big-name options, but currently, he might be unavailable.
Real Madrid are placing importance on Aurelien Tchouameni
The offer from Manchester United was reportedly worth €70 million in fixed fees with €20 million in add-ons, but Real Madrid did not deem the proposal sufficient. Florentino Perez reportedly did not even consider opening negotiations, as it would take a big enough offer for the Real Madrid supremo to even talk to Manchester United.
Meanwhile, there have been rumours over a potential future sale of Aurelien Tchouameni, although in the current scheme of things, Real Madrid consider him very important to their plans. Xabi Alonso has used the Frenchman extensively since the season began, and Perez also sees the versatile midfielder as a big part of their setup moving forward.
