Aston Villa ready to cash in on Emiliano Martinez in January

Emiliano Martínez was heavily linked with a move away from Aston Villa during the summer window.

The Argentine international goalkeeper was heavily linked with Manchester United, but the move did not go through. According to Football Insider, they are now planning to accept an offer for him in January. It will be interesting to see if the World Cup winner can find a suitable destination for himself.

He has been a player for Aston Villa with over 200 appearances for them. There is no doubt that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the league, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for most teams. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Martínez has won every possible trophy with his country, and he will want to win major trophies at the club level now. He will look to join a club in the Champions League. It remains to be seen whether any club is willing to provide him with an exit route in January. The move to Manchester United seems unlikely right now. Even though they need another quality goalkeeper, it is fair to assume that they might decide to move for a younger player with more potential.

Manchester United signed Senne Lammens in the summer, and they need an experienced alternative to him.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayındır are expected to be sold in the coming months. Both players have been quite poor, and Manchester United are unlikely to keep them at the club long-term.

It will be interesting to see if Martínez can convince the Old Trafford outfit to sign him. Joining them would be an excellent opportunity for him.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa will need to find a quality replacement for him as well. He has been one of the first names on the team sheet for a number of seasons, and they will need to fill the void left by him. Apart from his quality as a goalkeeper, he is also one of the leaders in the dressing room.
