Manchester United in win-win situation with Joshua Zirkzee, as AS Roma prepare move
Manchester United could find themselves in a win-win situation with regard to Joshua Zirkzee’s future amid AS Roma’s interest.
According to Team Talk, Manchester United will decide on Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the January window as they could find themselves in a win-win situation with regard to his future. AS Roma remain linked with a loan move for the forward, as the next few weeks could determine if the Dutch star’s valuation increases.
Joshua Zirkzee faces a pivotal period in his career as he is set to decide on his immediate future. Ruben Amorim has not favoured using the Dutch forward on his side so far, but the recent injury to Benjamin Sesko could afford him some opportunities in the squad.
That period could determine whether Manchester United can offload Zirkzee for more money, given they are currently planning to demand £31 million for the forward. The Red Devils feel they are in a win-win situation with Zirkzee’s future, as they are expected to recoup most of what they paid Bologna in the summer of 2024.
Manchester United are expected to offload Zirkzee in January as the forward seeks regular playing time ahead of a World Cup year. His minutes on the pitch will determine whether Ronald Koeman will take him as part of the Netherlands squad next year, as he could be pencilled in to make a return to Serie A.
AC Milan reportedly saw a swap proposal rejected by Manchester United, as they are one of the teams keen. AS Roma had been thinking about a loan move for the £31 million-rated player, which could see Manchester United include a buy-option or obligation for the same amount.
AS Roma are favourites to land Zirkzee
Roma are ready to bring Zirkzee back to the Serie A and use him in a position that favours the Dutch forward. Gian Piero Gasperini will want reinforcements to aid a title push in the second part of the season, as the £31 million-rated player could be a solid addition to the Gialorossi attacking setup.
Roma are willing to cover half of Zirkzee’s €3.5 million a year salary during the loan spell, and could offer him a separate contract should he make the move permanent. For now, Zirkzee has a chance to rediscover some of his lost form with regular minutes at Manchester United owing to Sesko’s injury, although he’s pencilled in to leave the club in January.
