Galatasaray Set to Try to Sign Atalanta Star Lookman
The future of Ademola Lookman will be on the table again in January after a tumultuous summer, and Galatasaray will throw their hat in the ring to capture him. Atalanta never reached an agreement on an extension and pay bump after repelling Inter’s offer, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Nigerian star has been trying to leave for a year and a half at this point. He has been a regular after briefly holding out during the past window. However, he hasn’t been his best self and has scored just once in ten appearances.
It remains to be seen whether Galatasaray will finally be the team to convince Atalanta to sell Lookman. Despite the chatter, there have been no official contacts between the two sides. The Bergamaschi are in no mood for discounts after turning down €45M in recent months.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Turkish side could start from a €25/30M offer and propose very rich wages to the player to convince him to force his way out. Victor Osimhen is a big proponent of the acquisition. An intermediary is at work to learn more about the conditions of the deal, but La Dea has always had a very rigid stance.
Our Take on Atalanta, Lookman, Galatasaray
They’ll have to hope he clicks with Raffaele Palladino, as, while the whole team didn’t function properly under Ivan Juric, his performances have been pedestrian at best, making the call to hold onto an unhappy player once again look questionable. The majority of rumored deals involving Turkish teams initially appear improbable, but they often come together after protracted negotiations, despite the apparent difficulties.
