Leeds United retain faith in Daniel Farke, but he could lose job by Christmas
Leeds United are standing by Daniel Farke for now, but his position could be in jeopardy by Christmas if the club continues to struggle.
Leeds United haven’t been in the best of form in recent weeks. While they are out of the drop zone, the pressure is slowly mounting on their manager, Daniel Farke. The board are hoping he can turn things around, and they do retain faith in him, according to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider.
However, if he fails to get the team back on track, the German manager could end up losing the job by Christmas. While he has done wonders for them since taking charge back in 2023 and has a lot of credit in the bag, Leeds will be forced to take a tough call if they find themselves in the drop zone towards the end of the year.
Pete O’Rourke on Daniel Farke’s situation at Leeds United
While speaking about Farke’s situation, O’Rourke said: “Four defeats in the last five games has set the alarm bells ringing at Elland Road.
“You’ve seen the likes of Wolves of change manager, West Ham change manager and Nottingham Forest change manager as they found themselves at the wrong end of table.
“That’s why you get the ongoing speculation that maybe Leeds could be next to look for a change in manager as well.
“It does seem that the Leeds hierarchy are looking to keep faith with Daniel Farke and they will give him a run of games to turn around Leeds’ fortunes.
“They’ve got tough fixtures coming up, with Villa, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool in their next games with a worrying time from now up until Christmas.
“I think if they find themselves in that bottom three around Christmas time and there’s no sign of improvement, then maybe their hands might be forced and they might be looking to make a change in the managerial department.
“But for now, it does seem that they are sticking by Daniel Farke.”
Leeds are currently 16th on the table with 11 points in as many outings. While it isn’t the best of records, the board believes it is good enough to keep them in the top flight. But, since they are only a point clear of the drop zone, things could get complicated soon.
The Yorkshire-based outfit have lost four out of their last five games, and it is one of the major reasons why Farke’s position has come under the scanner. The fans have started calling for his dismissal. However, the board hasn’t lost faith in the German manager.
Leeds United’s form will decide Farke’s future
They are confident that he can turn things around. But time is running out, and the next few fixtures certainly won’t make things any easier. Leeds will be going up against the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool before the end of the year.
If they fail to win any of these fixtures, they will most likely find themselves in the drop zone, which could force Leeds to part ways with Farke. With Wolves, West Ham, and Nottingham Forest already making managerial changes, it won’t be much of a surprise if Leeds also take a bold call mid-season.
