Leeds United in transfer tussle to sign Gonzalo Garcia as Aston Villa prepare bid
Leeds United are in a tussle for the signature of Gonzalo Garcia ahead of January as Aston Villa prepare a bid for the Real Madrid star.
According to Ekrem Konur, Leeds United are interested in a move for Gonzalo Garcia, with Aston Villa reportedly preparing an offer for the young striker. Real Madrid’s stance on the future of their young star is yet to be made clear, but the indications are that they might consider offers.
Real Madrid have two young and talented strikers on their books, who many of the clubs in England want ahead of the January window. Endrick, being one, who now appears closer to joining Lyon on a loan deal after being frozen out by Xabi Alonso from his plans this season.
The second is Gonzalo Garcia, who may feel a bit aggrieved as his impressive displays at the Club World Cup have had no bearing on the chances in Alonso’s first team plans. The attacker has not seen ample game time this season, which could tempt the highly-rated Real Madrid prospect to consider his options ahead.
There’s no shortage of interest from suitors, although Real Madrid were not keen to sell him. A loan might have been in order, but losing him would also bring a risk of not having another striking option on the bench for the second part of the season, especially now that they are letting Endrick leave.
Real Madrid are yet to make their stance clear on Garcia’s future, as there’s the possibility of them considering offers or reluctantly keeping him on board. In any case, Premier League side Leeds United are among those keen on the highly-rated Real Madrid prospect, as are many other clubs in England, as well as in other European countries, like AC Milan are also keen.
Leeds United face Aston Villa competition
Leeds United are interested in exploring a move for Garcia in the coming period, as Daniel Farke needs a new striker on board to solve a goalscoring issue on his side. However, the Elland Road outfit faces big competition from fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, who had thought about making a bid.
Now, Aston Villa are reportedly preparing a €20 million offer to tempt Real Madrid into selling, which could potentially give them an upper hand in proceedings. The Spanish side may decide on a sale or exit of any kind, but a big offer could certainly test their resolve on the young star.
