Juventus contemplate €5-6 million-a-year contract to sign Mike Maignan
Juventus are considering making an offer worth €5–6 million per season as they look to beat Chelsea to the signature of AC Milan shot-stopper Mike Maignan.
The French goalkeeper’s future has been a big talking point for months. His current deal with AC Milan runs out at the end of the season, and he doesn’t seem keen on extending his stay at the club. Since he could potentially be available for free, multiple top clubs from across Europe are after his signature.
Juventus and Chelsea are believed to be front-runners to sign the 30-year-old, and they look set to battle it out. According to a report from Juvelive.it, the Old Lady are contemplating putting forward a €5–6 million-a-year offer to convince Maignan to snub a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of joining them in Turin.
Maignan made a name for himself at LOSC Lille before joining Milan in the summer of 2021. He has only gone from strength to strength since, and has been one of their mainstays over the years. While the skipper remains an undisputed starter at Milan, his future is up in the air because of his contract situation.
Maignan could be heading to the Premier League
The Italian giants haven’t been able to convince him to stay, and with a new deal not in sight, a move away looks very likely; with the Premier League the most probable destination.
Chelsea are huge admirers of the 30-year-old. The Blues are not convinced by the performances of their current goalkeepers and are looking for an upgrade in that position. They believe Maignan could solve several of their defensive problems.
While the report suggests they already have the green light from the player’s end, there could still be some last-minute changes as he has yet to put pen to paper. Juventus are keen on his signature, and they are looking to hijack the deal.
Juventus are making moves to sign Maignan
Michele Di Gregorio has failed to cement his spot at the Turin-based club, and Luciano Spalletti is keen on signing a new goalkeeper. He considers Maignan an ideal fit for their project, and Juventus have started working on a potential transfer.
Their chief Damien Comolli knows the Milan shot-stopper from his time at Lille and could look to use the connection to convince him. Meanwhile, their CEO is willing to offer him a three-year contract with €5–6 million per season to beat Chelsea to his signature.
