According to Football Insider, Manchester City are closing in on a new contract for Phil Foden. Pep Guardiola has kept his trust in the technically gifted England international, who has been in a resurgent vein of form, as securing his future at the Etihad remains a priority for the club.

Phil Foden has had his ups and downs over the last year or so. After winning the player of the season accolade for his impressive displays and helping Manchester City win a fourth Premier League crown in a row, he fell off last season and was scrutinised for his below-par performances.

It’s quite unclear what contributed to a rapid downfall for Foden last season, as there are multiple stories stating it could have been a few niggling injury issues.
