More injury woes for Ronald Koeman as Denzel Dumfries ruled out of crucial clash with Poland

Ronald Koeman will have to find a new right-back in tonight’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Poland. As reported by ESPN, Denzel Dumfries has had to withdraw from the Dutch squad due to a minor injury. Losing the Inter defender is going to be a blow for Koeman and the Dutch national team given how well he has performed in the Oranje shirt over the years. It looks like Lutsharel Geertruida could be the replacement for Dumfries.

The Netherlands go into the clash with Poland knowing that a win will guarantee their place in the World Cup next summer. However, there are other injury concerns. Burnley defender Quilindschy Hartman has already withdrawn from the squad due to illness, while striker Wout Weghorst will also not be playing having withdrawn.

If the Dutch draw with Poland, they will maintain a three point lead at the top of the qualification group. Their final game is against Lithuania on Monday evening, one that they will certainly be confident of getting the result they need from. Clearly the clash with Poland will be a tough test, but Koeman and co are confident that they can get the result they need and book their ticket to next years finals.
