Arsenal leapfrog Manchester United in Karim Adeyemi chase, initiate contact

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have overtaken Manchester United in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund attacking sensation Karim Adeyemi.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Arsenal have entered the race for the signature of Karim Adeyemi as they look to reinforce their attack mid-season. The Gunners are set to rival Manchester United and are believed to have already overtaken Ruben Amorim’s team in their pursuit of the German winger.

After making a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg, Adeyemi joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, and he hasn’t looked back since. The 23-year-old winger has been involved in a total of 121 matches for the German giants and has contributed towards 51 goals.

While he prefers playing out wide on the right flank, Adeyemi is capable enough to feature anywhere in attack. He has made an impressive start to the new season with six goal contributions in his 14 outings, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Despite being in fine form, Adeyemi has only played the entire 90 minutes just once this season. He is growing increasingly frustrated under Niko Kovac, and it resulted in a public bottle-throwing incident after being substituted against FC Koln.

With only 18 months left on his deal at Dortmund, the German international’s future has become a big talking point as contract renewal talks have stalled. The club are denying the player’s request for a €80 million release clause.

Arsenal are making moves to sign Adeyemi

Since a renewal looks unlikely, the German club could end up sanctioning his departure in the upcoming transfer windows. Arsenal are one of the clubs that are interested in his services. They have entered the race and have already established contact with super agent Jorge Mendes, something Manchester United have already done.

Adeyemi could certainly come in handy given Bukayo Saka’s recent injury track record. Moreover, his ability to feature anywhere in attack makes him the perfect fit for the Spanish manager’s team.

Dortmund have made their conditions for a new deal quite clear, and if things don’t work out, they are ready to sell him in the winter window, but want €70 million for a potential transfer. Arsenal certainly have the finances to get a deal over the line.

Arsenal are ahead of United

The Gunners certainly love having a proper speedster in their ranks, and Adeyemi is right up there with the very best in that regard. They are believed to have overtaken the Red Devils, despite their strong relationship with his agent, Mendes.

While Ruben Amorim sees the German international as the perfect fit for his system, he might have to look for alternatives as Arsenal seem well-placed to get a deal over the line.
