Leeds United run rule over Franculino Dju, face West Ham United battle
FC Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju is a potential target for Leeds United ahead of January, with West Ham United also keeping tabs.
According to Leeds United News, Franculino Dju is emerging as a big target for some of the Premier League strugglers, such as Leeds United and West Ham United. The FC Midjylland star has made a big impact on proceedings, which has seen the Danish club place a £40 million asking price, which may prove too risky for the likes of the Elland Road outfit.
Daniel Farke has come under increasing pressure after losing four of the last five Premier League games, which has seen Leeds United drop close to the relegation zone. It feels like a matter of time before they are embroiled in the bottom three and commencing a long battle with relegation.
Farke wanted attacking signings at the back end of the summer window, and while the club did sign the likes of Noah Okafor, they also failed with a move for Harry Wilson. Leeds United are still in the hunt for the latter, but they are unlikely to sign the Fulham winger in the winter window.
Leeds United have also set their sights on a new striker, with the likes of Chris Wood being linked with a move, as the striker is no longer a starting choice at Nottingham Forest. The other name on their list is FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju, with the Danish side now placing an incredible £40 million asking price on the young attacker.
Leeds United have scouted Franculino in recent games, but there are concerns about whether they can afford the £40 million-rated attacking sensation. The big reason is their battle with PSR regulations, which could force the club to sell before they can re-invest in new players.
Leeds United faces West Ham battle
Leeds United not only needs a striker, but they also need someone who could bring an immediate impact to the team and help them survive the relegation battle. The report goes on to cite the example of Giorginio Rutter, who arrived as a big name arrival, but failed to improve their fortunes as they ultimately suffered a drop back to the Championship, as this has cast doubts on the prospects of Franculino’s signing.
They are not alone in the race for the £40 million-rated attacking sensation, as West Ham were interested back in the summer and remain keen. The Hammers are also in the market for a new striker and have seen links to the likes of Endrick during the past few weeks. Unlike Leeds United, the Hammers have the financial muscle to get a deal done with the Danish side and even pay a fee close to the £40 million asking price.
