Chelsea identify Crystal Palace star as top target

Adam Wharton is a big target for Chelsea ahead of the future, with the Crystal Palace star attracting massive interest from big clubs.

According to Team Talk, Chelsea are already looking into the market for future additions, with a big midfielder being planned. They have identified Crustal Palace star Adam Wharton as a top target ahead of next year, although a summer deal is seen as a possibility compared to a winter transfer.

Adam Wharton continues to attract big attention from some of the top clubs in England as well as some from abroad. The Crystal Palace star has been a revelation since his move to Selhurst Park, with talk of a nine-figure asking price already rife in the market.

The midfielder has Manchester United as a big suitor, as earlier reports stated some of the interested parties could make a January approach. Palace are not keen to part ways in January, although they might be open to the idea of negotiating a summer sale.

Crystal Palace have held talks over a new deal, but it remains to be seen whether the midfielder ends up committing his future to Selhurst Park. Given the widespread interest from top clubs, the 21-year-old Crystal Palace star could potentially think about a big switch.

Chelsea are also interested in Wharton and are now seriously considering making an approach for the midfielder. The 21-year-old Crystal Palace star is seen as a big addition at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues may have to fight off big competition from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

Chelsea are planning Adam Wharton approach

Chelsea have one of the formidable midfield setups in Europe with the likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez at the helm. They also have the injury-prone Romeo Lavia, and should the Belgian stay fit, their midfield ranks will be deemed one of the best in the world.

However, the Blues are now planning on an approach for Wharton, which could potentially indicate a possible departure for someone like the Real Madrid-linked Fernandez. On paper, the 21-year-old Crystal Palace star could be a top-name replacement for the Argentine, and otherwise a solid enough addition in general if the Blues can get a deal in place.
