Leeds United unlikely to land Harry Wilson in January

Fulham will unlikely sanction the departure of 28-year-old Welsh international Harry Wilson in the winter transfer window amid his links with Leeds United.

According to an update by Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, Harry Wilson is the subject of interest of Leeds United. The Whites are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Fulham winger has emerged as a target for the West Yorkshire outfit.

The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners were also keen on sealing a deadline-day move in the summer transfer window after holding talks over a late deal. While a summer switch did not materialise, Wilson has remained on Leeds United’s radar. However, Fulham will not sanction the Welshman’s departure in the coming weeks, and they want to tie him to a new contract.

Harry Wilson and his spell with Fulham so far

Harry Wilson has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Fulham from Liverpool in a deal worth £12 million in July 2021. While the 28-year-old has not been an undisputed first-choice starter for the West London club in the last four years, he has produced many game-changing performances during his stint.

The Welsh international has made over 150 appearances thus far for Fulham while chipping in with 27 goals and 38 assists. However, Wilson’s long-term future at the West London club is uncertain, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract. The situation has piqued the attention of several clubs, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

As iterated earlier, Leeds United wanted to sign Harry Wilson in the summer transfer window, but the deal failed to materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as the Whites are keen on bolstering their offensive unit heading into the winter transfer window to add more firepower to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Several candidates have thus emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Wilson also a viable target. However, while recent reports have claimed that the 28-year-old Welshman is open to joining Leeds United, Fulham will not sanction his departure in the winter transfer window.

Instead, the Whites want to tie Wilson to a new contract, hoping to keep him at Craven Cottage for the long haul. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 28-year-old Welsh international.
