Aston Villa in talks to sign Axel Disasi, Chelsea ready to sell

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has been linked with a move away from the West London club, and Aston Villa are hoping to sign him.

According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Aston Villa have opened talks to sign Axel Disasi, and Chelsea are prepared to sell him in the winter transfer window.

The French defender cost Chelsea €45 million, but he has fallen to the bottom of the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. So, it is hardly surprising that the Blues are prepared to sell him in January, having also attempted to offload him this past summer. He is not an important player for them, and it makes no sense to hold on to him.

Chelsea should look to sell the player and invest the proceeds from his departure into the playing squad. There is no doubt that Disasi is a quality player, but he has not been able to live up to the expectations in the Premier League.

Disasi needs to move on

It would make sense for the French defender to move on and join a club where he will get more opportunities. If Aston Villa can provide him with game time assurances, it could be the ideal move for him.

Disasi has previously spent a loan spell at Aston Villa, although he did not play too much with the West Midlands outfit. It will be interesting to see if he is willing to return to Villa Park in January. The player has been linked with a move back to his homeland in France as well. He needs to sort out his future quickly.

The Frenchman will not want to sit on the bench at Chelsea at this stage of his career. Leaving Chelsea would be ideal for him. Meanwhile, Aston Villa will need more quality and depth in the defensive unit, and the Chelsea player could be useful for them if he manages to regain his form and confidence. It remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to join the club.

The Villans would need to agree on a deal with Chelsea as well. The Blues will have to be reasonable with their demands for the move to go through. The Frenchman is an unwanted player for them, and clubs will not want to pay over the odds.
